Christmas at the Hogar

On Wednesday we went out with about 45 of the team members from the US and Canada to celebrate Christmas at the Hogar Betania (Bethany Home for the elderly). . . . what a special afternoon that was. . . .

Lots of games, coloring, crafts, nail painting, and even tattoes (the ladies loved the tattoes of the butterflies!). And we can't forget the photo with Santa!

And then we provided an extra special meal for them of chicken, rice and a salad. They gobbled it up! And ended with a Christmas cake for dessert.

I think my favorite time was when the group sang Christmas carols to the elderly as they were enjoying their Christmas meal . . . . it felt like all of heaven's angels were right there in the room with us! In spite of all the sad things - the elderly who can't care for themselves, no family members to be found, typical nursing home smells, - there was joy as we watched the residents enjoy their chicken and listen to the caroling . . . . what a blessing!
