I'm way behind on posting on our blog. Probably the highlight of our holidays was celebrating Nathan's first birthday. Yep - he turned one on December 25th! We had at our celebration at home the night of the 24th and then had another cake and candle at the Kooistra home (missionary friends of our here in Quito) on the 25th.
We almost got him to blow out his candle (rather than grab for it!). Maybe by next year, he will perfect the art of blowing out the candles!
For a trip down memory lane, I've included a photo from when he was born (see below). We praise God for giving us a healthy growing boy in what could have been a very different situation. Thank you for praying for us during this first year! We are so grateful for so many friends and family who stood behind us at the beginning of 2008, while we went down that rocky road of wondering if our baby boy was going to be okay. God has a plan for Nathan and we're so glad that we're a part of it.

What a blessed contrast between when Nathan was born and now! Praise the Lord for your darling boy's health. When he wears you out with his energy, I know you will just be thankful he is that way, not sick!
